1. Myth: Self-care is for women

Fact: Self-care is for all

2. Myth: Self-care benefits don’t last

Fact: The benefits of engaging in self-care can last for a long period of time

Just a little bit of care for yourself can go a long way. Trust us! Your brain identifies the feel-good factor of indulging in habits that are good for you, and rewards you by stimulating happy hormones for a long, long time! No wonder you look so good after a vacation or feel refreshed for hours after a good workout!

3. Myth: Self-care means spas, bubble baths and sleeping in

Fact: It can mean anything you want. Period.

Some like a good workout, others want to take a day off and eat comfort food. Whatever your preferences, there’s always a way to take care of yourself. It may take a while to find what works for you, but once you do, the benefits are endless. Trust us, we know!

4. Myth: Self-care is expensive

Fact: It takes close to nothing to make yourself feel cared for

Take yourself out to dinner, buy yourself those comfy socks you said you wanted, or just curl up on your couch and watch your favourite team play a game. You don’t need much to take your self-care game up a notch! And remember: it’s all about what works for you, and you alone!

5. Myth: Self-care needs a lot of time

Fact: You can invest as much or as little time as you need in your self-care.

Let’s face it- with everything that goes on in your life, sometimes you barely find time to take a deep breath, let alone spending time relaxing! Thankfully, there’s some good news: you really don’t need a lot of time to make self-care a part of your life! Five minutes of meditation, a 15-minute workout, a quick movie or a phone call with a friend is all you need to make it work for you.
