Hair to Stay: Haircare hacks for guys

Whether it’s a coif, a mullet, a buzz cut or a fade, hair is here to stay. Admit it, we’ve all been there: spending the last few minutes before you head out trying to make that one patch of hair sit in place, or that quick sneak in a storefront reflection to check if you’re all good. And while we’ve all heard about the usual droning on of complex haircare routines and time-consuming styles, we’ve gathered here today to talk about some haircare hacks that you may have heard of, but not considered! They’re’ easy, they’re as simple as it can get, and they’re going to take your hair game to the next level.

1. Pat dry your hair

Hold your towel against your head and quickly rub your hair dry. That’s how it usually goes, right? Well, we’re here to tell you to STOP! No matter how short or long your hair is (and no matter how much of a hurry you’re in!) always pat-dry your hair. Rubbing your towel against hair strands that are already weaker when wet can make your hair more prone to breakage. Always scrunch up your hair in sections and let it air dry naturally before you go on to do any styling!

2. Exfoliation isn’t just for your skin

Yup, you heard it right. Your scalp needs exfoliation, too. Opt for a scalp massager or a shampoo that cleanses and exfoliates at the same time. Most likely, those nasty dandruff flakes you’re seeing on your scalp and shoulders are the result of a dry and flaky scalp. Exfoliating using gentle products is your most ideal way out!

We’d recommend understanding your skin and hair type first, since harsh exfoliants can break weak hair and can cause skin irritation to sensitive skin.

We recommend the Tea tree Dandruff Control Shampoo!

3. Over washing is a thing

Think you can wash your hair as many times as you want? Think again! No matter the length of your hair, you should not wash your hair more than once a day, lesser if you’re dealing with thinning hair or have fine hair. This is because each wash strips some moisture off your hair and the warm water opens up your hair follicles, making the strands more susceptible to falling out.

4. Invest in pre-styling products

So, you’re a hair styling aficionado, huh? We’re all in! Hair styling is a great way to bring in character to your look and its versatility lets you really get creative. While we’re excited to see all the styles you come up with, we recommend holding off on any styling until you set yourself up with a pre-styling product. From heat protecting creams to a simple leave-in serum or oil, make sure you invest in a pre-styling product that’s right for your hair. Styling products can get heavy on some hair types more than others, so ensure you’re protecting your hair first.

5. Cut, don’t comb over

We’ve all looked into the mirror at some point, wondering if that one part of our head of hair looks a bit sparser than it used to. If you’re experiencing thin hair, or if you’re just not completely satisfied with your hair texture, here is some sage advice: embrace it! Combing your hair over doesn’t leave you room to express your creativity, so we recommend the following: Befriend your hair stylist and ask for a cut that incorporates your evolving hair needs! Whether it’s a sharp fade for a receding hair line, or a shorter cut for super fine hair, find a cut that suits you instead of opting for the combover.

6. Skip the heat, not the conditioner

Head on over to your bathroom right now. Do you see a conditioner? If you do, congratulations! If not, what are you waiting for? You need the right amount of nourishment and moisture to get your hair care right. And to do that, we recommend starting with the right foot. If you’ve got to swap a step in your hair care routine, we’d tell you to ditch the heat and replace it with a conditioner. Not only does a conditioner give your hair some much-needed moisture, but it also keeps your hair feeling soft and healthy!

Our Apple Cider Vinegar Conditioner is set to give you a good hair day, every day.
